BLESSING CLOSET
The Blessing Closet Ministry is an outreach initiative where both our congregation and community members can stop by and get free gently used clothing. In addition to providing outside support, we also partner closely with other established ministries at MPCM, including the Evangelism Team, Silver Saints and the Celebrate Recovery Ministry. We have assisted and supported numerous schools and nonprofits organizations in the area, including, but not limited to: Fort Worthington Elementary, Sinclair Elementary, Furley Elementary, The House of Ruth, Marian House, Eastern Outreach Shelter, Helping up Men’s Mission, Gifted Women’s Project, along with many others. We were established as a result of a massive amount of left over clothing, donated during our very first homeless outreach endeavor, which was appropriately named “JUST BECAUSE’”.
Our ministry is relatively small. However, our goals and desires are to make a big impact. We currently have 8 active members and 2 honorary members. We are located in the Family Life Center and are open whenever there is a need. If an individual is in need, they can simply contact our administration office, and an appointment is set up.
As we continue to grow and support the community, we are always looking for new members to assist us in achieving our ongoing goals. In order to be a successful, volunteers must be kind, compassionate and very service oriented. In addition to helping our visitors, each volunteer is asked to proactively search and solicit for nonprofit organizations who can benefit from items we have on hand. We offer a very flexible schedule, which directly depends on timing and incoming request for needs. Our group meetings are normally scheduled on every other month.
